The Worst Advice We've Ever Heard About Tyvek Wristbands
When the staff of Ilford Hospital, London decided to have a function to celebrate their 10th anniversary, they set up several small committees to investigate various aspects of organising the function.
One of the committees was tasked with organising the invitation list and how the invites would be sent out. At the beginning of the process, the hospital security got involved and they recommended we use wristbands which could be scanned at the entry to make sure that only official invitees can gain access to the event. They even suggested we use Tyvek wristbands as they had seen the product used at a similar event a few weeks before at another venue.
One of our staff nurses advised us against the use of Tyvek wristbands. She said that they are made of cardboard and therefore would not be waterproof. We had almost accepted the advice until a Google search revealed that Tyvek bracelets are 100% waterproof because they contain Tyvek material which is in fact waterproof.
True, cardboard material is also used in the manufacture of the product, but the surface material is Tyvek and that makes this particular wristband fully waterproof and durable. Moreover, we found out that the print on the Tyvek event wristbands will last at least a couple of days which was more than sufficient for the purpose of the function at Ilford Hospital, London which would only last a few hours.
Another committee was tasked with finding a supplier that could produce customised printed Tyvek wristbands nearest the hospital. Once the design for the wristband was confirmed an order for 500 custom Tyvek event wristbands was placed on the website. Using the online interactive designer, we could upload the hospital logo and also add the event name in the font we agreed on. We were pleasantly surprised when the custom tyvek wristbands were delivered roughly 30 hours after placing the order.
We eagerly opened the package and were quite happy with the results. The colour printing, we requested was just amazing; everyone loved it. We showed the product to the hospital security guard who made the suggestion, and they were very happy with the result. Needless the say, the anniversary function went well and was a grand success. Now we know whom to contact for our next event should we require Tyvek wristbands.
